PEORIA, Ill. – The threat of severe weather returns Saturday afternoon.
The time table for possible scattered strong to severe storms is after 3 p.m. The primary threats will be large hail and damaging winds, according to 25 First Alert Chief Meteorologist Chuck Collins.
“The tornado threat is low,” Collins said. “We’ll be dry Sunday and Monday, but we have the potential for severe weather to return Tuesday.”
A flood warning along the Illinois River continues until at least late Thursday evening.
At 8:45 p.m. Friday the river stage was 19.1 feet. Flood stage is 18 feet.
The river is expected to rise to a crest of 19.2 feet early Sunday afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage Thursday afternoon.
The river forecast is dependent upon the amount of rain the area receives.
